I have had a thirty year career as a homebuilder, and my job requires that I feel great every day and have enough energy to motivate others to use their skills. I’ve also been interested in health and physical activities for many years, and I invested in health coach training because I wanted to broaden my knowledge and pass on that knowledge about a healthy lifestyle to others. My wellness journey has evolved over time, and I am fortunate that I have never had any major health issues (a credit to my great genes passed to me by my parents). But I take care of myself and feel the best EVER in my life right now!
1. Nutrition: I found a way to eat that works for my body centered on eating fresh vegetables and greens, organic meats, whole grains, some dairy and little sugar. I don’t deny myself dessert or chocolate, but I know how to balance my diet.
2. Exercise: I started with aerobics in my 30’s, biking the MS 150 in my forties (14 times), ran marathons and triathlons (2 ironman, several halfs) in my 40’s and 50’s. I’ve slowed down those activities recently because of tender knees (I love to hike so chose that activity over running!) but I haven’t stopped being active! In recent years, I’ve hiked in Nepal, around Mont Blanc and the Inca Trail. I discovered yoga about 5 years ago and try to practice every day (and am now certified to teach!). Along with a lot of walking, weight lifting, biking… I try to mix it up but do something almost every day.
3. Relief of stress: see above, and also I’ve added meditation to my routine.
4. Drink a lot of water but never enough. Still working here.
5. Supplements: a multi vitamin (or powder), vitamin C, vitamin D. No medications!
